Sim Lab — Racing & Flight Sim

Sim racing on real hardware, right on campus. A full-scale flight simulator project is now underway too.

• MOZA R25, 25 Nm direct drive wheelbase
• Three wheels: GT, rally, and truck
• H-pattern shifter
• Load cell pedals with a clutch
• Handbrake
• Triple monitor setup
• 10+ games and sims installed

Flight Simulator

The A380 Has Arrived

After a long wait and a successful transport, Sim Lab has officially acquired an Airbus A380 simulator cockpit.

We’re currently unpacking, cleaning, and taking inventory of all components. Getting the simulator fully operational will be a major long-term project, and we’re looking for anyone interested in helping bring it back to life.

Current Tasks

• Base & Assembly: Build the floor structure and mount the hardware and seats.
• Inventory & Testing: Document parts and test components to determine what works and what needs repair.
• PC & Projectors: Build the main simulation PC and set up the projection system.
• Software Integration: Connect the physical hardware to the simulator software and map all inputs.
• A380 vs. A320: Evaluate whether to preserve the native A380 layout or convert the cockpit into an A320 simulator.

We Need Help!

There are plenty of opportunities to contribute:

• Hardware & Software: PC building, wiring, electronics, and repairs.
• Fabrication: Woodworking and metalworking for the cockpit frame and floor.
• Design: 3D modelling and printing replacement parts.
• Systems & Scripting: Reverse engineering legacy hardware and writing software interfaces.

Even if your skills don’t perfectly match these areas, we’d still love to have you involved. There is a task for everyone.
